After much work cropping images and searching the depths of my hard drives, i’ve finally finished my portfolio. I’m really excited to share the work i’ve been doing in the last year and a half, i’ve worked with some amazing clients such as Nike, and Honda. I had the honor of redesigning the Nike Running website, it was my most exciting and biggest project yet. There is ton of new personal work to show as well.

As you can also see i refreshed my logo a bit, i’ve been doing a lot of illustrative work, so it made sense to bling it out a bit. For this relaunch I decided to switch from Indexhibit to Cargo Collective, i’m really pleased with the ease of use, and simple interaction. Hopefully now I will update more often.

Please keep your eyes peeled for my store that i’m going to be setting up with Society6, i’ve already got my Arizona print up for sale.

I’m super psyched to announce this, I hope you enjoy the work. Please let me know what you think. Shoot me an email or hit me up in Twitter.

If you’v ever been intrigued by the enigmatic little adhesive treasures found in dense urban areas like NYC, then I recommend checking out an art book simply titled, Stickers. It’s authored by my good friend and colleague DB Burkeman, an old school cat who is largely responsible for pioneering the rave and drum & bass scene in the US . DB came to NYC in the 80′s, when graffiti and punk was still thriving, with already having an affinity for the medium in England, and like anyone coming to NYC with an artistic taste, immediately became enamored by the ever changing creative life of the street.

This book is the culmination of obsessively collecting stickers for many years, and even more so with the help of friends when he discovered he needed to share his collection with the world through this book.

Stickers is very comprehensive, it not only touches on the originating graffiti and punk cultures, but expands from skate graphics, to contemporary art, to big brands with cult followings.

Another reason why i’m plugging this thing. Two pages feature my handmade postal stickers from a couple street campaigns two summers ago (pictured above). It’s really an honor to share a book with some legendary artists and writers like Revs & Cost, and well, pretty much everyone who made a name for themselves. This book really is a who’s who.

The photos above are of the limited edition hard cover version (only 300). Which came with a bundle of hand signed stickers. The last shot is of Typcut artist Lee Trice’s contribution.

So i was doing a little spring cleaning on my computer this evening and I found this little poster i did back at my old agency. It was a belated secret santa gift for my good friend, and office manager, Brian Kerr. This last christmas i made an exodus to arizona and totally ditched the office festivities, and soon after my return, i was showered in well deserving guilt. Thankfully i was able to mend the friendship with a little extra time at work, i don’t think i’d be able to endure the holidays every year with the secret santa shame.

Brian also runs a great indie music label called Two Syllable Records, i recommend checking them out. They’ve got some great bands like New Villager on their roster.

I’ve been hired to work on their Nike account, which has been very fun. Tons of great talent here, very inspiring, i’m going to make some posts introducing some of the talent soon. A few of the designers I work with here have been contributing to Typcut, which has been on fire lately, the pieces above I did recently.

Well as you may have noticed, things look a little different around here. After enough feet dragging i’ve finally gave my portfolio and blog a refresh. Between working a full time job, Setting up Typcut, working on BBS Gear, and doing freelance here and there, it’s hard to find a little time to soak in some summertime sun. Ii’m finally done, what a weight off my shoulders.

As many other artists may say, designing your own portfolio is one of the most arduous things to create. How do you want to define your craft? What work do you want to show, how do you want to present it? I do have to say i over-thought the user experience way to much this time around.

I’ll tell you what saved me though, Indexhibit. Thinking back to all the portfolios that i’ve enjoyed navigating the most, almost all of them have followed the indexing format. I like just going down a list looking at work; no flash, fast loading. Indexhibit is also ultra easy to install, figure out, and customize. Anyone with solid html/css knowledge doesn’t even need to know any PHP to get it running. I’d say it’s just as easy as WordPress, and even more simplified.

So after losing what little farmers tan i’ve had, i’m thrilled to start a new chapter with my site. As you can see, i’ve linked up my Twitter, and Flickr to the blog’s sidebar in hopes to maintain some freshness between the blog’s dry spells. I’ve also still got another 1/3 of my work to post on my portfolio, but i need a break from 2 days straight of cropping and resizing images, so i’ll give a heads up when they make their appearance.

I’ve also got some additions rolling around in my head. I’m trying to figure out how i want to showcase my music. I’m not sure if i just want to plug it into my site somehow or just ride it out with the piece of trash that is myspace. I’m also looking into getting some stickers made, and i’d like to get a nice little section with desktop wallpapers.

Have fun with the new site, i’m going outside to frolic.

EDIT:

Unfortunatly i just upgraded wordpress to 2.8.1 and my new lovely Flicker Widget in my sidebar stopped working. I contacted Donnacha, the creator, in hopes he can help. Let me know if you’ve got a fix.

The image above is is a poster i created for Omega Code, an emerging transcendental / new age metal band, tackling their debut through creating a strong preemptive following in the art & design scene. They first commissioned some well known talent such as Hejz, Sebastian Onufziak, and Mike Cina to create some posters based around their triangle mark. I was really digging the aesthetic that was being cultivated, so I emailed them expressing interest in partaking in this project, and thankfully they were just getting ready to open up the floor with a fan art contest.

Submissions for the fan art contest closed last week, and tomorrow the band is picking 20 winners to publish in a book. All 400-something submissions can viewed on Omega Code’s flickr stream.

Here are some of my favorites from the official commissions:
